Only the Well Vapor Blower is needed for our burner. Contaminated Well Vapors go directly through the SOIL-THERM burner for destruction - - no need for a Combustion Blower! The VOC’s from the Well Vapors burn in the turbulent flame zone as the primary fuel source. In summary, you’re burning only the supplemental fuel you have to, nothing more. TWO BLOWERS ?? - - cha-ching! ... your fuel bill just got nasty! The Combustion Air blower has to heat both its ambient air and the Well Vapors process stream to 1400F. Yee-ouch! This really happened . . .At a site in Southern California, a SOIL-THERM 2002 oxidizer system was compared side-by-side with a “Brand X” thermal oxidizer system with Combustion Air Burner. In thermal operation at 1400F, the SOIL-THERM system required 5.0 cfm (300,000 btuh) natural gas, and the “Conventional Oxidizer” system required 11.9 cfm (714,000 btuh) to process 200 cfm SVE vapors with approximately 1500 ppmv VOC’s. According to the alarmed operator, when he called the manufacturer’s service dept. about the high fuel usage he was told: “That sounds about right - - if you want to reduce fuel costs just cut down on your Well Vapor Flow”. Hmmm... that can’t be right, can it ? If thats your site, you’re wasting about $2,385 in gas every month! If you operate that system for one year, you’ll spend $29,000 more than you would’ve with a SOIL-THERM system .. And at that rate - - you could buy a whole new SOIL-THERM system in just a few more months!... |
After researching the operating costs between SOIL-THERM oxidizers and five different brands of Conventional Oxidizers, we found the following fuel consumption relationships that showed huge differences between the two oxidizer technologies. In summary, SOIL-THERM was always lower in operating costs - - regardless of brand and whether the oxidizer system was horizontally or vertically mounted. The results are shown in the table below:
