Aerospace Origins. Ramjets were a key part of the US Air Force weapons strategy for over 30 years, employed in high speed missiles,  drones, reconnaisance, and research for the fastest planes ever.  Ramjet and scramjet combustion technology are high performance engines classified as ‘airbreathing engines’, utilizing ambient air for the oxidizer and onboard fuel for generating the flame and thrust for flight in excess of Mach 2. Its an amazing feat when you realize that these high speed engines were able to maintain a flame at altitudes over 100,000 feet (where O2 is deficient) and maintain a strong flame to deliver its payload at speeds in many cases  ‘faster than a speeding bullet’.

Combustion Technology.   By employing combustion principles similar to a ramjet engines, the burner of the oxidizer actually becomes a combustor. The VOC emissions are introduced into the burner as the ‘oxidizer’ like in a ramjet engine, and the fuel is injected in a manner where it completely mixes with the VOC’s, just prior to flame consumption. All VOC’s mix within the flame, and continue to destroyed in a matter of milliseconds, mixing through a highly turbulent flame for ‘flash destruction’ of the VOC’s. It has been demonstrated in testing that 99% destruction of VOC’s can result in as little as .1 seconds retention time in a SOIL-THERM burner. -- [BEGIN PicturEGIN POST-Pictur

Benefits.  The benefits of ‘flash destruction’ of VOC’s in SOIL-THERM’s Jet-THERM  process is: (1) very low NOx emissions - - because high temperature ‘thermal NOx’ is not created due to very short time exposure to the stoichiometric flame, (2) very low CO emissions - - due to the high degree of mixing in the excess air process, (3) very low VOC and toxic emisions - - due to the complete destruction of its molecular structure in the high temperature  and turbulent flamezone.  Recent source tests have demonstrated NOx stack emissions of only 9.6 ppmv at 1565F operating temperatures - - EXEMPT from SCAQMD Permit Moratorium restrictions. And no need to have to purchase expensive Emissions Reduction Credits (ERC’s) that could cost up to $100,000 per pound!

SOIL-THERM’s Mission.  SOIL-THERM researchers  have spent over 25 years applying ramjet combustion principles towards ever cleaner and more energy efficient environmental cleanup equipment.  We have always believed that environmental equipment should meet the toughest standards and lowest emissions whenever environmental cleanups are performed. Towards that end, SOIL-THERM has now developed what many consider to be the cleanest gas-fired thermal systems ever - - low NOx, low VOC, low CO, and low natural gas usage.   The solution for low emissions environmental cleanup is here now!
